My name is Alexa Young
My 1-year-old son was diagnosed with Xerosis Cutis and it was almost impossible to put anything on his skin without him reacting negatively to it. I decided to dive into the natural skincare world to get alternative skincare. After a series of self-studies, extensive research and trial and error in formulating body cream, body oils, body butter and natural chemical-free soap, I was able to formulate gentle soaps and topical alcohol-free and water free body butter and ointments for my son that prevented scaling and inflammatory erythema that were progressing into painful fissures. This inspired me to formulate my own skincare products that suited my hormonal acne and dry skin.
Having already founded a successful Accounting and Business Consulting company and working with prominent entrepreneurs and business owners, I yearned for a more creative and fulfilling outlet where I could positively impact people's lives.
With my personal struggles with skincare and inspired my nature, UMMSKIN was born. Combining my financial acumen with and newfound passion for natural skincare, I believe that my analytical skills and business expertise could be channelled into creating a successful plant-based skincare company that would produce natural and organic skincare products that truly work.
